X-Ray Technician

MSF Switzerland is looking for an X-Ray Technician

Main purpose of the role:

Performs X-ray examination according MSF protocols, security measures and standards of hygiene and privacy in order to contribute to the improvement of the health condition of the Covid 19 severe patients

Apply MSF principles, protocols, values and internal regulation and adhere to the rules implemented within MSF Covid-19 Centre

Other tasks of the role:  

• Providing radiology services on medical doctor’s request for in-patients. Reporting immediately to the medical referent any problem regarding patient’s health status.
• Reporting to the medical team on the results of the x-ray performed using X-Ray Form and Patient Files. Keeping accurate record of all images produced and providing weekly summaries of all performed radiological examinations. Compiling weekly data on activity and contributing to general statistics of the project.
• Communicating with patients and staff in a clear and respectful manner and upholding patient confidentiality at all times.
• Perform cleaning and minor maintenance for biomedical equipment used. Following the user manual and protocols and alert supervisor in case of malfunctioning, loss/robbery/damage of x-ray room material and/or devices. Undertaking regular Quality Assurance checks on equipment and radiographs.
• Upholding and ensuring staff/patients compliance to all radiation safety regulations. Identifying vulnerable persons to radiation such as pregnant women, and protecting them accordingly. Ensuring radiation safety by using protective aprons and specific devices and clearly marking and respecting all radiation areas considering all IPC procedures as implemented within MSF Covid 19 center.
• Knowing and applying hygiene protocols. Carrying out cleaning and tidying up of the x-ray devices and ensuring proper waste disposal according to MSF safety standards
• Doing regular inventories of stocks in order to avoid any shortage and ensuring all materials are stored according to each specific condition.
• Participating in team meetings and possible trainings. Collaborating in any emergency, if required by the supervisor or coordination.

المسؤوليات :

• تقديم خدمات الأشعة بناء على طلب الطبيب للمرضى المنومين. إبلاغ الإحالة الطبية فورًا بأي مشكلة تتعلق بالحالة الصحية للمريض.
• إبلاغ الفريق الطبي بنتائج الأشعة التي تم إجراؤها باستخدام نموذج الأشعة السينية وملفات المرضى. الاحتفاظ بسجل دقيق لجميع الصور المنتجة وتقديم ملخصات أسبوعية لجميع الفحوصات الإشعاعية التي تم إجراؤها. تجميع البيانات الأسبوعية عن النشاط والمساهمة في الإحصائيات العامة للمشروع.
• التواصل مع المرضى والموظفين بطريقة واضحة ومحترمة والحفاظ على سرية المريض في جميع الأوقات.
• إجراء التنظيف والصيانة البسيطة للمعدات الطبية الحيوية المستخدمة. اتباع دليل المستخدم والبروتوكولات ومشرف التنبيه في حالة حدوث خلل أو فقدان / سرقة / تلف مواد و / أو أجهزة غرفة الأشعة السينية. إجراء فحوصات منتظمة لضمان الجودة على المعدات والأشعة.
• التمسك وضمان امتثال الموظفين / المرضى لجميع لوائح السلامة الإشعاعية. التعرف على الأشخاص المعرضين للإشعاع كالحوامل وحمايتهم بناء على ذلك. ضمان السلامة من الإشعاع باستخدام مآزر واقية وأجهزة محددة ووضع علامات واضحة على جميع مناطق الإشعاع واحترامها مع مراعاة جميع إجراءات الوقاية من العدوى و مكافحتها على النحو المطبق في مركز أطباء بلا حدود كوفيد 19.
• معرفة وتطبيق بروتوكولات النظافة. إجراء تنظيف وترتيب أجهزة الأشعة السينية والتأكد من التخلص السليم من النفايات وفقًا لمعايير السلامة لمنظمة أطباء بلا حدود
• عمل الجرد المنتظم للمخزون لتجنب أي نقص والتأكد من تخزين جميع المواد حسب كل حالة على حدة.
• المشاركة في اجتماعات الفريق والدورات التدريبية الممكنة. التعاون في أي حالة طارئة ، إذا طلب ذلك المشرف أو التنسيق.

Requirements:

• Essential Experience in a similar position of minimum 2 years including at least 1 year “internship“ with DoH
• Desirable experience with MSF or other NGOs
• Essential Radiographer / X-ray technologist diploma
• Essential Fluency in Arabic, desirable basic level of English
• Desirable basic computer skills
• For applicants with foreign certificates, Iraqi recognised state-diploma is required.
• For applicants registered under DOH Ninewa, a non-objection letter should be provided only if the staff is selected.

MSFCH will manage COVID-19 Intensive Care Facility in the Al Salam Teaching Hospital, Mosul, in order to support DOHN’s response to COVID-19 pandemic by providing lifesaving intensive care for COVID-19 confirmed severe cases.

ADDITIONAL INFO

As a part of the MSFCH team, you will be directly exposed to potential contact with COVID-19 patients. Therefore, all interested candidates must ensure not to have any medical pre-existing condition that would make them more vulnerable in case of contamination of the virus.

COVID 19

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. You can be infected by breathing in the virus if you are within close proximity of someone who has COVID-19, or by touching a contaminated surface and then your eyes, nose or mouth. People with the following pre-existing medical conditions are more vulnerable to develop complications from this disease:

 - Age > 60 years old

- Obesity and Severe Obesity – BMI >30 and ≥ 40

- Diabetes

- Cardiovascular Disease, including hypertension, coronary disease, arrhythmia, heart failure

- Chronic lung disease (including asthma, COPD, TB), heavy smokers

- Chronic kidney or liver disease, including Hepatitis B/C

- Pregnancy

-Immunosuppression/immunocompromising conditions such as:

• Cancer treatment
• Bone marrow or solid organ transplant
