Background
TATWEER (Development) - Civil Society Capacity Building Program is a program designed by Un Ponte Per and Al-Mesalla and funded by EU to build upon and scale up the potential of Iraqi Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) with a strong focus on capacity-building, advocacy and networking.
A Civil Society Service Center is foreseen to be active in each of the three project locations (Erbil, Mosul and Basra) to provide services to the CSOs (training, advisory services, information point etc.) in the KRI, Central Iraq, Southern Iraq.
The Organization
Un Ponte Per (UPP) has been active in Iraq since 1991 and has made civil society empowerment one of its core missions in the country since its inception, through actions that span from humanitarian and health projects to human rights and peacebuilding programs. UPP works to prevent new conflicts, especially in the Middle East, by building peace and solidarity between people, defending human rights of those affected by war and promoting their right to self-determination, social justice and dignity.

General Description of the Position
The Accountant/Assistant Administrator will be responsible for:
- Prepare and classify all the document necessary for the correct implementation of the project, according to UPP and donor procedures.
- Ensure logistical, financial and administrative follow up of the Center activities
- Maintain records of all payments and receivables and prepare monthly records for all grant related activities
She/he will also provide consultation and trainings to the NNGOs and groups, as well as orientation for submitting the financial reporting of the sub-grants, following orientation by the Project Administrator/Grant Manager.
We look for an enthusiastic, flexible, committed, and resourceful professional, based in Mosul (and surrounding neighborhoods) with a problem-solving attitude.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative and autonomy in the organization of her/his work while ensuring at the same the capacity to act in strong coordination with Center Coordinator, Project Administrator/Grant Manager, PM, and other team members.
It is a full-time position: no double employ is accepted.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in financial follow up of the Center
- Make the registration and financial requirements of project expenses according to UPP administrative regulations.
- Commit to the financial reporting time frame and procedures.
- Commit to the reporting time frame
- Participate in meetings as requested by the Grant Manager/Project Manager
- Maintain records of all payments and receivables and prepare monthly records for all grant related activities.
- Provide advisory services and trainings to the NNGOs and groups on aspects related to administrative and financial management, as well as orientation for submitting the financial reporting of the sub-grants, following orientation by the Project Administrator/Grant Manager.
- Prepare internal and external audits according to UPP and donor’s requirements.
- Deal with local authorities as per need.
- Other tasks as requested by Project Manager.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Diploma or professional qualification in Accounting / Finance / Business Administration
- Previous work experience in accounting (minimum 2 years)
- Desirable experience working previously with INGOs / NGOs
- Speak Arabic fluently, English is an advantage
- Essential computer literacy: Word, Excel (desirable Intermediary level)
- Previous experience in any Accounting software
- Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and produce quality results on time with attention to detail
