PURPOSE OF DIVISION:

Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is an international relief and development charity that envisages a caring world where people unite to respond to the suffering of others, empowering them to fulfil their potential. We are an independent Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) founded in the UK in 1984.  Working in 40 countries, we promote sustainable economic and social development by working with local communities to eradicate poverty, illiteracy and disease. We also respond to disasters and emergencies, helping people in crisis. Islamic Relief provides support regardless of religion, ethnicity, or gender and without expecting anything in return.                                                        Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) has been working in Iraq for more than 20 years. IRW-Iraq was amongst the few aid agencies those were on the ground since 2003. Islamic Relief Worldwide Iraq is implementing several projects in the sector of livelihoods, WASH, Education, and Seasonal Projects.                                                 

JOB PURPOSE:

The social mobilizer will assist Project officer with the development and implementation of the project activities, including project plans, policies and solutions and contributes to issue resolution and escalation, research, analysis activities and planning and monitoring activities in Diyala governorates.

Internal:

  • Country Director

  • HR, Procurement, and Finance Departments
  • MEAL and Communication focal points

External:

  • Government departments and representatives
  • Partner organizations and NGOs
  • Relevant stakeholders, vendors and service providers

 

Generic responsibilities:

  • The Social mobilizers will spend their time working in Diyala Governorate.
  • The Social Mobilizers will be responsible to mobilize and organize communities, conducting meetings with community leaders, right holders’ identification, training arrangements, assisting project officers in the implementation of project activities, distribution of business kits and regularly monitoring field activities.
  • Conduct regular visits to the field for project activities implementation and conduct regular follow-ups with the project beneficiaries’ activities.
  • Support the MEAL department on conduct baseline & endline surveys.
  • Prepare reports and case studies on weekly, monthly basis.
  • Perform assigned related task by the project management.
  • Traveling to Erbil main office to attend the required workshops, trainings and other events.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with local authorities and community leaders to facilitate beneficiary identification, secure necessary approvals, and ensure smooth implementation of project activities across targeted areas in Diyala Governorate.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

The job holder is accountable for fulfilling his or her roles and responsibilities in line with Islamic Relief values and principles of fairness, humanity, honesty, respect and fair treatment of his/her colleagues and staff.

 

Programs:

  • Ensure effective community mobilization and engagement by building strong relationships with community leaders, local authorities, and beneficiaries in targeted areas.
  • Support the timely identification, registration, and follow-up of right holders/beneficiaries in line with project selection criteria and donor requirements.
  • Facilitate the smooth implementation of project activities, including training arrangements, awareness sessions, distributions, and field monitoring visits.
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor beneficiary progress, document challenges, and provide timely feedback to Project Officers for corrective action.
  • Assist in the preparation of weekly, monthly, and activity-based reports, including case studies, success stories, and field updates.
  • Support MEAL activities by assisting with baseline, endline, post-distribution monitoring, and beneficiary feedback collection processes.

·         Ensure proper coordination with internal departments and external stakeholders to maintain compliance, operational efficiency, and project quality standards.

 

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

PERSON SPECIFICATION

 

 

It is essential that the post holder shows a good understanding and sympathy with the Islamic Relief values and principles as well as commitment to Islamic Relief World wide’s vision and mission.

 

Experience

  • 1 - 2 years of relevant professional work experience in agriculture or livelihoods sectors. Preferable with International NGOs.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent/Proven experience in the liaison with different stakeholders particularly Government Departments/Authorities
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Good in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Good facilitation skills.

 

Personal Qualities

  • Extensive experience in working for NGO or INGOs on Development fields with a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated capacities to establish and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with government officials, local organizations, communities and other stakeholders.
  • Arabic language proficiency (speaking, reading, writing), English language is an asset.
  • Good writing and reporting skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Good in computer applications (MS Word, Excel, Power point).

 

Desirable

  • One year working with IRW Iraq will be an advantage.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS AND LEVEL OF TRAVEL REQUIRED

  • Ability to travel over Islamic Relief offices across Iraq
