Description

1. Position Summary:

Aid Gate Organization (AGO), in partnership with the International Labour Organization (ILO) under
the PROSPECT programme, is implementing a Work-Based Learning (WBL) project in Dohuk, Ninewa,
and Erbil. The initiative aims to improve youth employability by strengthening collaboration with
enterprises, vocational training providers, and government stakeholders.
The Project Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day implementation of the livelihood–WBL
programme and its related activities, particularly in Ninewa, while also supporting interventions in
other locations as needed. This includes organizing events, coordinating field activities, engaging
stakeholders, and supporting beneficiaries to improve access to economic opportunities. The role also
covers management of operational requirements such as preparing payments and stipends,
maintaining documentation, and ensuring proper archiving. The Project Officer will work closely with
partners, trainees, and enterprises, applying strong coordination, planning, and monitoring skills to
ensure timely, high-quality, and sustainable execution of project interventions.

 

2. Key Responsibilities:

2.1 Project Implementation & Activity Coordination

  • Support the rollout of project activities in line with the approved workplan and donor
    guidelines.
  • Organize various field-level events such as community sensitization meetings, job fairs,
    employer engagement events, info sessions, and skills development forums.
  • Coordinate logistical and administrative arrangements for events including booking venues,
    managing invitations, coordinating materials, and arranging transportation and refreshments.
  • Ensuring events are inclusive, well-organized, and aligned with project objectives.


2.2 Stakeholder Engagement & Coordination

  • Liaise with local authorities, private sector actors, vocational institutions, and other partners
    to ensure effective collaboration.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including government departments
    (e.g., DOLSA,CDC, DoY), NGOs, and Employers.
  • Represent the project in local coordination meetings and stakeholder platforms as delegated
    by the Project Manager.


2.3 Field Monitoring & Support

  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor ongoing activities and ensure effective
    implementation.
  • Follow up with service providers/employers, beneficiaries, and partners to gather feedback
    and resolve any issues that may arise during implementation.
  • Document challenges, risks, and lessons learned for internal reporting and project
    improvement.

 

2.4 Reporting, Documentation, and MEAL

  • Maintain accurate records of participants, attendance lists, activity reports, and feedback
    forms.
  • Support the MEAL team in data collection, post-activity evaluations, and beneficiary followups.
  • Contribute regular internal and donor reports with clear documentation of events,
    achievements, and outputs.
  • Assist in preparing success stories, case studies, and photo documentation as required.

 

2.5 Administrative and Logistical Support

  • Prepare procurement requests related to events and activities (materials, printing, venues,
    refreshments, etc.).
  • Ensure timely and compliant support for financial and logistical processes in line with
    organizational policies.
  • Coordinate with the logistics and finance teams to ensure smooth operations during activity
    implementation.


2.6 Safeguarding and Risk Management

  • Monitor and report any safeguarding concerns or operational risks encountered during
    activities.
  • Ensure that all project events promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment,
    especially for women and youth.

 

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

COMPETENCIES

  • Strong planning, organizational, and coordination skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

AS WELL AS THE FOLLOWING SPECIFIC “PROFESSIONAL” COMPETENCIES

  • Fluency in Arabic and English; proficiency in Kurdish is an asset.
