Background:
Sahara Economic Development Organization (SEDO) is an Iraqi National NGO it was established in November 2007 as an independent NGO with its main office in Tikrit city. It focuses on developing the economic sector by providing business management training courses and counseling services to entrepreneurs and potential investors, enabling them to contribute to the local economy efficiently. SEDO is considered among the most effective and qualified organizations in Iraq. It has conducted economic studies on the business environment in Iraq, identifying business opportunities and market niches for potential investors in Iraq. SEDO started humanitarian intervention in Iraq to respond to the urgent need for our beneficiaries, its work in the WASH, Livelihood, protection, Food security, and Education sectors.
Main Purpose:
The Education Volunteer is responsible for supporting the education project team in the successful implementation of the activities in the framework of the project “FORSA” once the project is approved. The volunteer will be mainly responsible for identifying the children out of schools, registration, following up with them, monitoring, reporting, and maintaining relations with stakeholders.
Job Description
- Support the Community Mobilizer to implement the mobilization initiatives inside the target communities.
- Conduct a field survey to identify the Out of School Children (OOSC).
- Data entry for the identified cases.
- working closely with the project officer to register them in the formal education centers/schools.
- Conduct regular and irregular follow-up for the registered cases to monitor their retention.
- Support the project team to implement the activities in the field related to the OOSC.
Skills/Competences
Essential
- Knows well the local context
- Strong knowledge of the Education system in Iraq.
- Adherence to humanitarian principles and code of conduct, in line with SEDOS' principles, values, and regulations.
- Fluency in Arabic.
- Good IT knowledge and skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel across the assigned project areas at short notice and spend extended periods with communities.
- Previous experience in supervising educational activities.
- Knowledge of Child Safeguarding policy and PSEA.
Desirable
- Good skills in the Kurdish language.
- Previous experience in relating with DoE and MoE.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Strong diplomatic, interpersonal, listening, and communication skills.
