Brief description of the organization
Yazda Iraq is a local organization registered in both Iraq and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. It operates as a subsidiary of the global Yazda organization and adheres to the same mission: supporting vulnerable communities, particularly those affected by genocide and mass atrocities. In Iraq/KRI, Yazda implements programs focused on advocacy, legal assistance, humanitarian aid, and community and survivor empowerment initiatives. The Country Director leads these efforts, ensuring they align with organizational goals and respond effectively to local needs.
Job Description and Responsibilities:
The Service Contract Driver will provide safe, reliable, and flexible transportation for Yazda staff, enumerators, and project materials during the GIZ MHPSS Needs Assessment project. The role includes:
- Driving staff and materials to project locations in Duhok, Sinjar, and Sinuni.
- Maintaining the vehicle in good working condition, including fuel, oil, tires, and general maintenance.
- Ensuring passenger safety and adhering to Yazda’s security and movement procedures.
- Reporting accidents, breakdowns, or any vehicle issues to the Logistics Manager immediately.
- Ensuring the vehicle is equipped with a first aid kit and fire extinguisher.
- Following all traffic laws and security protocols, including checkpoints and high-risk areas.
- Demonstrating flexibility to accommodate staff schedules and field requirements.
- Maintaining confidentiality and respecting Yazda policies at all times.
Vehicle Maintenance
- Ensure the vehicle is ready for use at any time during working days.
- Refill the vehicle with fuel every morning.
- Check and maintain clean engine oil.
- Keep the vehicle clean and washed every working day (interior and exterior).
Breakdowns, Accidents & Reporting
- Ensure passenger safety and evacuate if necessary.
- Inform the Line Manager or, in their absence, the Project Manager immediately in case of emergencies.
- Comply with all requests from persons involved and follow instructions from security forces or emergency services.
- Remove all documents and high-value items when leaving the vehicle.
Security
- Keep doors locked and windows closed in mountain or high-risk areas.
- Do not leave valuables on display in the vehicle.
- Avoid stopping near military bases without authorization.
- Do not pass through checkpoints without an authorized letter.
Other Responsibilities
- Demonstrate flexibility to accommodate staff needs.
- Respect Yazda policies and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality of all project-related information.
- The candidate should have more than 3 years of experience in driving with international NGOs.
- Ability to read and write English and Arabic is preferred.
- A graduate candidate is preferred.
- A car model 2023 or newer is highly preferred.
- Valid Iraqi driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Experience driving in Duhok, Sinjar, and the surrounding areas.
- Knowledge of road safety and vehicle maintenance.
- Familiarity with security protocols in high-risk areas. Professional, reliable, and flexible for field assignments.
