
Detailed Responsibilities
• Ensure repairs and servicing of mechanical assets are carried out to a high standard and in a timely manner.
• Maintain quality control of all workshop repairs.
• Assist in any investigation or incidents involving MAG assets.
• Ensure all workshop staff comply with MAG H&S policies.
• Liaise closely with the Senior Mechanical Team Leader (SMTL) create weekly work plans, scheduling the maintenance/repairs of machines and arranges replacement machine’s where necessary.
• Manage the mechanics and allocates tasks.
• Develop, designe, build, test and deploy prototypes where appropriate, in consultation with the Mechanical Support Manager, Field Operations Managers and Technical Field Managers.
• Source high quality supplies and parts for maintenance and modifications to mechanical assets, ensuring that the correct equipment, materials and supplies are available at the right time and the right locations
• Ensure regular servicing of all assets are carried out in accordance with MAG policies.
• Monitor progress of assets in the workshop and allocates spare assets when necessary.
• Keep the Mechanical Support Manager updated on progress of repairs and reports any misuse or of damage to assets
• Advise procurement/logistics in advance when spare parts are required or stock may be running low
• Report to the Mechanical Support Manager any malfunctioning workshop equipment
• Ensure adequate maintenance of all workshop’s premises, tools, equipment and other materials
• Ensure workshops are kept clean and tidy and that Health and Safety Guidelines are adhered to within the workshop environment
• Ensure hazardous/inflammable materials are clearly marked and stored separately from other materials and heat sources
The Mechanical Workshop Coordinator will also
• Travel and remain in other locations when necessary.
• Have the ability to drive MAG owned cars for operational purposes
• Work reasonable additional hours during exceptionally busy periods
• Participate in meetings with programme sector team managers as required
The post holder should be able to demonstrate the following attributes:
• An understanding of NGOs and a commitment to humanitarian work
• At least 10 years’ experience working as a mechanical engineer
• Advanced mechanical fabrication and prototyping skills
• Management experience with 5 years in a workshop environment
• Ability to read and understand Electrical Schematics
• Full valid General driving license
• Hold Certificates for service and Maintenance of earth moving equipment
• Competency in MS Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and AutoCAD
• Able to give training in Mechanical Support and maintenance
• Ability to read, write and speak English and Kurdish
