Who are we
Peace and Freedom Organization, a non-governmental, non-profit organization, administratively and financially independent, Established in 2013 and registered with the concerned authorities in the Department of NGOs. Head office in Erbil and works in multiple areas in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
Working in the Republic of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, to monitor and protect the human rights situations and ensure peaceful coexistence by promoting trust and cooperation among the various components of society.

Key Responsibilities for advocacy officer:
- Clarify the vision regarding the overall advocacy part of the PoV:TJ project, transfer that vision to practical plan which includes clear activities with the methodology of implementation.
- Whenever required, conduct further training for the project or PFOs staff/team, on the concept of advocacy, it is goals, how to do advocacy. Additionally, trainings on negotiation, dialogue and persuasion and other key required skills. Therefore, the position requires the applicant to have training delivery skills.
- In coordination with the Project Coordinator and the project team conduct meetings with the local authorities in each area and on the level of the province and meetings with the victims, survivals and marginalized groups to understand the type of needs and the level of demands.
- Build relationships at multiple levels with decision-makers and influencers in government, parliament, UN and the other related parties. Also considering media to convey our priority for advocacy messages to public and targeted community members.
- Representing PFO at a high level as required, at meetings, events, roundtables, dialogue sessions community based FGDs… etc. And also, when meet/engage with government officials and local authorities.
- Perform any other task assigned by the project coordinator and PFO Management.
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
- Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and good written and spoken English. Kurdish languages is an advantage.
- At least two years’ work experience in the field of the advocacy and NGO field work.
- Experience working on humanitarian response/development, human rights, and other peace-related topics.
- Good computer skills (Microsoft office, email, etc.) and good emailing skills,
- Report writing skills, concept notes, case study, questionnaire and other related tools.
Excellent representational and lobbying skills.
