Overview

Un Ponte Per (UPP) is an NGO established in 1991. It has started its activities as “Un ponte per Baghdad”, right after the end of the war in Iraq, with the aim of organizing solidarity initiatives in favor of the Iraqi civil society. Later on, the intervention of Un Ponte Per started including Serbia and other Middle Eastern and Mediterranean countries. The NGO mission is to prevent new conflicts, protect human rights and support civil society, especially in the Middle East, through humanitarian and development programs, always supporting the local civil society. UPP is active in Iraq since 1991 and is regularly registered at National and Kurdistan Region levels.

This project, entering its second year, is aimed fostering the livelihoods and employment of Dhi Qar Governorate, focusing on the natural and cultural heritage of the area.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Coordinating the implementation of project activities for a Women workshop specializing in traditional food production in Dhi Qar under supervision of the Field Coordinator, Project Manager and close co-operation with the key project staff;
  • Monitoring the activities and the results achieved against the project indicators;
  • Report to the line manager in a timely and accurate manner;
  • Ensuring the compliance of expenditures with donor requirements;
  • Liaising with local partners, businesses, youth and with all relevant stakeholders;
  • Participating in relevant coordination meetings;
  • Performing any other task assigned by the Project Manager

 

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Education: 

  • Relevant University Degree and/or equivalent qualification.

Experience:

  • Candidates have to be permanently resident in Thi Qar Governorate;
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in coordination roles.
  • Experience in activities with youth and women.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with livelihood projects.
  • Knowledge of traditional foods of the area.
  • Geographical area knowledge of Thi Qar.
  • Computer literacy (word, excel, outlook, internet);
  • Availability & ability to undertake additional assignments and flexibility to multi-task work.
  • Planning skills in terms of drafting work plans, priority setting, capacity to match deadlines;
  • Demonstrable skills in administration
  • Working experience with NGOs and local authorities
  • Affinity with heritage and environment

  • Sense of responsibility, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Highly approachable and trustworthy.

Languages:

Excellent communication skills Verbal and written Arabic and English.
