Description
Context/Reporting line:
Under the overall supervision of the Senior Programme Coordinator (Peacebuilding and Stabilization), and the direct supervision of the Programme Officer (Technical Cooperation), the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties.
Core Functions / Responsibilities
- Assist in preparatory activities such as conducting community assessments, obtaining official approvals, gathering baseline data through security mapping, and support the organization of meeting the concept where Community Policing is introduced to relevant stakeholders in target communities.
- Assist in the planning, implement and monitoring of Community Policing Forums (CPFs), training courses, and other related activities; support logistical coordination and preparation of other materials; and facilitate communication with focal points in Interior Ministry and relevant local authorities to gather inputs of work plans, workshop/training agendas, and related communication.
- Support the entry and cleaning of training-related data; coordinate ‘remote’ data entry, as needed.
- Support the organization of workshops and conferences, including pre- and post-training activities, collecting participant feedback using standard tools and helping with the compilation, uploading, and circulation of data and reports after the events. Translate informal correspondence and other materials from Arabic into English and vice-versa, as requested by the PM and/or his designee; provide basic interpretation during meetings when requested.
- Support the project team in maintaining working relationships with the Iraqi police, local authorities and community leaders, act as the primary liaison with the designated Police Focal Officer at the Governorate level under the guidance of the supervisor.
- Collaborate with other Project Assistants to maintain coordination and exchange information with other IOM programmes, identifying possible areas for operational synergy.
- Monitor field-level activities and highlight potential or emerging project-related risks to the Programme Manager, and the Senior Project staff
- Undertake other duty travel as required. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Required Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in political or social sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic university or institution with three years of relevant professional experience, or
- Completed high school degree with five years of relevant professional experience.
Experience and Skills:
- Ability to work well harmoniously with colleagues from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
- Demonstrated commitment, efficiency, flexibility, and a supportive approach to achieve results.
- Good computer background including experience with relational database and Microsoft applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to work effectively in high-pressure, and rapidly changing environments.
- Experience supporting the implementation of field or community-based programmes, including coordination of logistics and administrative tasks.
- Experience assisting in the organization of trainings, workshops, or community meetings, including logistical arrangements and data collection.
Languages:
- Fluency in English, Kurdish and Arabic.
- Working knowledge of any other language is an advantage.
