Background

 

iMMAP provides ongoing technical support to the Iraqi government and its partners to establish a common operating picture (COP) to effectively task and manage landmine and ERW mitigation activities. iMMAP focuses on improving the capacity of national staff so they can provide better services to the HMA community which helps to reduce ERW hazards more efficiently and effectively in Iraq. iMMAP’s Information Management System for Mine Action (IMSMA) and geographic information system (GIS) technical expertise supports the Directorate of Mine Action Iraq (DMA) to develop and maintain a reliable information management cell to produce maps and reports for land-mine and ERW planning, prioritization, and clearance activities.

 

Presentation

 

The Information Management Assistant shall support   all goals and strategies of   the iMMAP program in its work  with  national partners, international partners, and applicable donor agencies. The IMA will contribute and maintain constant and good contacts with the National Mine Action Authority and other partners.

Operational

  • Coordination and control of IMSMA functionalities with all the Area Mine Action Centers (RMAC-S) and iMMAP staff.

  • Assist with the development of IMSMA training packages and supervise training on IMSMA.

  • Assist in reviewing the qualitative and quantitative IMSMA database cleanup process in coordination with RMAC-S operations on a national and regional level.

  • Assist in overseeing the daily operational directives for completion and quality with the assistance of the information management technical advisor.

  • Assist in compiling the monthly activity reports as required by various stakeholders with the assistance of the information management technical advisor.

  • Assist in performing a monthly audit of mine action information to ensure data completeness, integrity, and quality.

  • Ensure the successful implementation of the standard working procedures for information management within DMA and regional levels.

  • Assist in reviewing and updating internal process flow documentation to facilitate compliance to the relevant IMSMA SWP and SOPs.

  • Ability to visit Iraq provinces whenever required for any IMSMA technical issues.

  • Proactively gather information from sector partners, government authorities that may be of use to the sector for informing decisions.

  • Assist to ensure timely preparation and generation of information products, statistical reports, graphs, maps, and follow-up on cluster-specific trends.

  • Assist in providing support on information sharing and dissemination through web platforms to all relevant humanitarian implementing partners.

  • Participating in periodic information management meetings with the IM Iraq Team

  • Complete additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills
  • Good knowledge of GIS principles and GIS software.
  • Good knowledge of relational database concepts
  • Good knowledge of IT related hardware and peripheral equipment.
  • Good understanding in topographical map reading and 3D orientation.
  • Advanced skills in MS-Access, MS SQL Server, and Office suite.
  • knowledge of software engineering theory and application development would be an asset.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate tasks to appropriate staff.
  • Ability to coordinate with local administrators, government, NGOs working with community projects and agencies involved in mine-action.
  • Self-reliant and able to work independently.
  • Previous office supervision in a similar environment would be an asset.
  • Graduate of University in the field of Information Technology, Information Management, Computer Sciences, or any other similar field.
  • At least 2 years of working experience in Information Management, Database Management, or any similar field.
  • Good working knowledge of English, Arabic (written and spoken).
  • Self-motivated and committed to working hours.
  • Willingness to learn and accept multi-culture environment.
  • English language skill is mandatory.
  • High sense of responsibility
  • Demonstrated reliability regarding attendance and work performance.
  • Good Interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and interact with people from diverse backgrounds.
