About Mercy Hands:

Mercy Hands for Humanitarian Aid is a non-governmental not-for-profit nonpartisan organization that works in conflict torn and disaster affected areas to save lives, sustain human rights and restore a healthy community. We serve people in need, regardless of their religion, sect, ethnicity and/or political affiliation.

We aspire to live in a society where justice prevails, law rules, individual and group rights are preserved, differences are acknowledged and welcomed, people work together to develop and sustain resources for future generations, and manmade disasters are virtually nonexistent.

About the Project:

Mercy Hands is partnering with Save the Children and the Ministry of Education to implement the For School Access (FORSA) project in Kirkuk. The project aims to enroll 3,550 out-of-school children, including children with disabilities, by supporting schools to provide safe, inclusive, and quality education and addressing barriers to enrollment and retention.

Through this initiative, Mercy Hands will contribute to increasing access to education, strengthening school capacities, and ensuring that out-of-school children have access to protection services. The project aligns with the Iraq National Education Strategy and Sustainable Development Goal 4, complementing the Multi-Year Resilience Programmed (MYRP) by addressing immediate educational needs using data-driven approaches such as Waluku’s child tracking system.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct outreach activities to raise community awareness on the importance of education and child protection.
  • Identify and refer out-of-school children, including those with disabilities, for enrollment in target schools.
  • Support community meetings and awareness sessions with parents, local leaders, and education stakeholders.
  • Assist in organizing school and community-based events and activities.
  • Collect and report data from the field, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Coordinate with schools and local authorities to address challenges affecting attendance and retention.
  • Ensure adherence to child safeguarding and protection principles in all activities.
