CONTEXT

For more than 30 years, Médecins du Monde, a campaigning medical organization committed to international solidarity, has been caring for the most vulnerable populations at home and abroad. It has continued to highlight obstacles that exist in accessing health care and has secured sustainable improvements in health-for-all policies. Those working for this independent organisation do not solely dispense care and treatment but condemn violations of human dignity and rights and fight to improve matters for populations living in precarious situations. MdM currently works in 44 countries across all continents where it focuses on 4 priority areas: caring for the health of migrants and displaced persons, promoting sexual and reproductive health, harm reduction associated with drug use, emergencies and crisis.

In Iraq, MdM is involved in emergency, post-emergency and development programs. The actual project of MdM is to support health care including sexual and reproductive health access in Dohuk, Ninewa and Kirkuk governorates, mainly focusing on IDPs population and returnees. Psychosocial support activities have been introduced in all the projects.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the Log- Admin Assistant, the Cleaner will be responsible for the following main activities:

• Provide cleaning in MdM Guest Houses and Office.
• Maintain the Guest Houses in a good standard of cleanliness and hygiene. 

TASKS DESCRIPTION

Cleaning Duties

cleaning of the following areas per request according needs.

• Interior and exterior of the GHs
• Bathrooms and washrooms – disinfecting mirrors, toilets and sinks in all bathrooms
• Kitchen: appliances, dishes, counters, sink, etc.
• All floors, internal and external stairs sweeping and mopping
• Dusting/wiping of all horizontal surfaces
• Windows and window sills
• Water dispensers
• The inside of the fridge and freezer
• Light fixtures and switch plates
• Ceiling cobwebs
• Tile wall of the bathrooms and kitchen
• Doors
• Monthly planning of procurement of all cleaning items to be submitted to the line manager (e.g. cleaning fluid, garbage bags, soap, toilet paper etc.)
• Replenishment of washroom supplies
• Washing and changing of bed sheets on every Thursday in the guesthouse.
• Washing of cloths in the house of the team living in the house
• Daily trash collection in bags, including empty dust bins. Ensure that all trash is hygienically disposed of, particularly from the kitchen and bathroom areas
• Maintain storerooms properly, ensuring cleanness &neatness

Others

• To inform immediately security focal point in the case of any security problem
• Attend meetings/trainings, when requested by MdM
• Will be asked to replace the Office Cook-Cleaner when she is on leave
• Performs other related duties as assigned

PROFILE

• Basic literacy skill (reading and writing)
• Ability to communicate in both Arabic and Kurdish and basic English
• Proven professional experience in a similar position
• A good knowledge of cooking would be an asset
• Good level of interpersonal skills and motivation to work as part of a team
• Be committed to MdM’s values as an organization and motivated by its non-statutory, not for Profit model
