Malteser International is working in Iraq since 2014 and recently started the implementation of a new program in Ninawa funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The program is about the Intervention for More Durable Assistance and Development (IMDAD) by building economic recovery, social cohesion and access to good quality health care and rehabilitative services, with a focus on the most vulnerable among the population in Sinjar, Talafar, Tilkief and Hamdaniya. The project mainly will focus on health and livelihoods sector with integrating social cohesion and gender sensitivity into the activities. 
 
For its work in Talafar, Iraq, Malteser International is looking for an experienced person to fill the position of a motivated 
 

As a Guard, you will ensure and provide a secure and safe environment for the Malteser International staff during office hours and travel. Protect the premises and properties of Malteser International, such as: office/TH, vehicles, furniture, and technical equipment through maintaining proper access control procedures and patrolling.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assure the security and safety of personnel and property at the Malteser International office/team house, during all hours of working shift.
• Watch and randomly patrol the office grounds and building to check against damages, theft, or harm caused by unauthorized persons. Monitor and control access at building entrances and vehicle gates, and keep a logbook
• Ensure that unauthorized personnel are not permitted to enter MI building
• Inspect visitors and their belongings prior to entering the MI building. Ensure that they have already an appointment with MI personnel
• Ensure that the office/team house remain secure against theft or damage and that persons who are not authorized do not enter the compound and /or remove any items, if MI personnel are not present
• In the event of security problems, assist in the evacuation of personnel and property in coordination with location responsible parties
• Observe for signs of crime or disorder and investigate disturbances
• Watch alarm systems or video cameras and operate detecting/emergency equipment
• Assist in the general operation of the office/team house by turning on the water pump, assisting in loading and unloading vehicles, assisting in general maintenance and assisting in running and maintaining the generator, etc.
• Track MI staff when they go on a field trip and take action in case of emergency
• Respect and implement the principles, directions, and security requirements of MI at all times

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Professional experience and exposure in the related field of activity with similar organizations
• Knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols, the operation of detecting systems and emergency equipment, and surveillance skills and detail orientation
• Behavioral values and skills: trust, accountability, problem solving, cooperation, flexibility, collaboration
• Basic verbal English knowledge
• Full proficiency in the local language

CONDITIONS:

• Start date: Depending on opening Office/TH in Talafar area (15-31 July)
• Number of positions: 2 Guards
• Duty Station: Talafar, Iraq
• Duration of contract: 6 months (extendable to one year)
• Salary according to salary scale and qualification and experience
