Description

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Accounting
• Assist the FO/DFM with accounting, budgeting and all other financial/accounting activities as directed.
• Review and process payment requests, ensuring accuracy and adherence to policy.
• Ensure all regular payments are made in a timely manner.
• Maintain cash balance in the office safe, including conducting daily cash count, reporting any discrepancies to the FO/DFM immediately.
• Update the cashbook on a daily basis with transactions and advances issued.
• Prepare bank reconciliation for all MAG accounts.
• Ensure accurate and complete accounting and that relevant records are maintained.
• Assist FO/DFM in complying with MAG HQ Finance policies, procedures and regulations.
Liaison
• Manage the working relationships with local banks/cash providers ensuring that adequate funds are received promptly to meet working capital requirements and regular reconciliations are made to bank statements etc.
• Liaison with relevant Government finance departments, with an up to date knowledge of KRG accounting / tax law.
• Provide adhoc support to the Sector Finance Officers in resolving daily financial issues arising in their sectors.
Administration
• Ensure that all Finance documents are properly archived in accordance with Finance Department policy, including creating digital copies of all accounting documents and uploading to designated online storage.
• Perform other related duties as required by the FO/DFM.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Person selection criteria
• Further education in accounting or book keeping related background.
• Knowledge of Database System, MS Excel, MS Word etc.
• Previous professional experience working in a financial role, ideally for an NGO.
• Experience processing payroll and management of cash flow.
• Good Data Analytical skills.
• Excellent written, and spoken Kurdish (Essential), Arabic (Desirable) and English (Essential).
• Excellent communication and team building skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.

General
• Work towards achieving departmental business plan objectives.
