Project Description:

MH is implementing a Child Protection project funded by UNICEF focusing on ‘Prevention and Response to Child Protection Needs and Concerns and Strengthening Knowledge on Child Protection amongst Local Communities, Local Authority Personnel and Government Staff in Baghdad’. This project targets 6 locations in Baghdad governorate (Abu Ghraib, Latifa sub-district, Yusufiya sub-district, Zayouna, Tarmiyah and Mahmoudiya).

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Designing the ToT, governmental staff, and students training courses and curricula;
  • Conducting/Supervising the ToT training of 8 governmental staff;
  • Supervising and facilitate the training of 160 (80 men and 80 women) teachers and social workers, trained by the 8 ToT trainers on child rights, CP, child SGP and child resilience program;
  • Supervising and review the training of students in 10 schools on PSS by the 160 trained teachers and social workers;
  • Assisting the Child Protection Specialist, teachers and social workers to set up PSS units and referral system in 10 schools and b. identify and refer children at risk.
  • Providing technical support to the intervention and capacity building to the operational staff.

 

Deliverables:

  • Producing training courses and curricula for government staff, ToT and students.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills
  • Education: Advanced university degree M.A./M.S. in social work; social studies; psychology, public policy etc, or a LL.M. in international law and human rights.
  • Work Experience: at least 5 years of experience working with international organizations, UN agencies, NGOs in child protection, child resilience and child safeguarding in humanitarian settings. Previous work experience in Iraq an asset.
  • Certified trainer.
  • Solid experience in capacity building and development of policies. Proven expertise in working with government structures.
  • Experience in assessment, research and monitoring and evaluation.
  • Strong understanding of confidentiality, safety and ethical concerns related to working with children, women and girls in line with international standards.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) and in Arabic (written and spoken).
