Description

Context/Reporting line:
Under the overall supervision of the Programme Coordinator of the Community Stabilization Unit (CSU), the
administrative supervision of the Head of Sub Office (HoSO) and the direct supervision of the CSU Programme
Officer in close coordination with CSU Area Coordinator for Mosul, a successful candidate will perform the
following functions:
Core Functions / Responsibilities
Conducting Social cohesion and MHPSS activities:
1. Develop close connection with local authorities, youth, women and people in vulnerable situations
in assisting the Area Coordinator.
2. Identify the issues and needs of people and propose community-based social cohesion activities and
mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) activities.
3. Conduct community-based social cohesion activities including but not limited to training in
grassroots mediation, conflict resolution and social inclusion techniques, civic education, sports and
art activities, media and communication projects and social theatre.
4. Extract the needs of community people and reach out to the people in need.
Others:
1. Contribute to the team effort to develop materials, agenda, and other necessary tools.
2. Contribute to the team effort to develop short to mid-term team workplan.
3. Contribute to the survey and assessment as necessary which includes but not limited to data
collection and facilitation of group discussions.
4. Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of the program.
5. Support and collaborate with social workers and focal points.
6. Any other duty as may be assigned by the Area Coordinator or Programme Officer.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, Anthropology, Education, or other relevant fields from an accredited

academic university or institute.

Experience and Skills:

Minimum 1 year of relevant working experience.

Knowledge of community dynamics in West Mosul is essential.

Experience in social cohesion activities in West Mosul is essential.

Experience in implementing activities under IOM or other UN agencies is an asset.

Experience in supporting and collaborating with community service organizations and grassroot

NGOs is an asset.

Technical Skill:

Good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional

backgrounds.

Demonstrated gender awareness and gender sensitivity.

Ability to work under pressure

Personal commitment, efficiency, flexibility and drive for results.

Proficiency in Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and internet explorer.

Basic knowledge of MHPSS.

Languages:

Fluency in Arabic is required.
