SECTION 4: OBJECTIVES AND DELIVERABLES

What is the context and rationale of the assignment?

The Communications Consultant shall support Dorcas with the provision of high-quality

communications materials and tools to enhance Dorcas profile and messaging for priority advocacy and programming deliverables.

What are the objectives of the assignment?

The main objective of this consultancy is to:

 

-        Develop and implement communications strategies & work plans, campaigns, events

and other initiatives, and ensuring alignment with.

-        Design creative content, posts, and campaigns along with a regular publishing schedule and ensure alignments with Dorcas guidelines.

-        Review data on the performance of social media platforms and adjust plans or strategies to optimize reach.

-        Research articles, stories, resources, or other content relevant to Dorcas and its mission for sharing via social media in a manner that invites conversation and interaction.

-        Work collaboratively with the Project team to identify, stories and messages that are engaging and high quality, and which communicate the impact of the work being done as well as advocacy messages on key themes.

-        Write, edit, and distribute high-quality media and multimedia content, including written content, publications, press releases, website content, case studies, infographics, and other communication material that communicates the organization's activities, products and/or services.

-        Research, prepare, fact-check, edit, and produce professional media and

-        communications materials for various audiences and ensure their timely dissemination and amplification via Dorcas communications channels including with National Chapters and regionally/globally.

-        Contribute to identifying new and creative ways to enhance the visibility reputation and positioning of Dorcas.

-        Support the organization in documenting learning and building a ‘library’ of communication materials and knowledge products.

-        Maintain records of media coverage and collate analytics and metrics.

 

 

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Selection Criteria: The consultant is expected to have the following skills and abilities:

-        The consultant should have a relevant bachelor’s degree and background in journalism/or communication and IT.

-        A minimum of 5 years’ experience with a proven professional record working in the field of communication, or equivalent experience in a similar role is strongly desired.

-        Excellent spoken and written English.

-        Excellent oral and written communication and editing skills.

-        Excellent communication, networking and advocacy skills and ability to work with a diverse range of colleagues.

-        Ability to think creatively and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

-        Good knowledge of media landscape and proven ability to develop and implement effective media and outreach strategies.

-        Fast, accurate, creative, and versatile writing skills, including for digital media.

-        Strong ability to draft newsworthy stories quickly and easily.

-        Ability to analyze complex information quickly and simply for audiences.

-        Good political and personal judgment.

-        Previous experience with non-governmental organizations and transformational leadership are desired qualities for this position.
